TikTok Rolls Out 10-Minutes Videos

By: Leanne Lambert

TikTok is rolling out 10-minute videos, allowing its users to unleash even more creative entertainment! This should also lead to increased direct monetization potential.

TikTok has since confirmed the full roll-out of the option (to TechCrunch):

“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok. Today, we’re excited to start rolling out the ability to upload videos that are up to 10 minutes, which we hope would unleash even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.”

TikTok’s original time limit per clip was 15 seconds, before being extended to 60 seconds, then 3 minutes. It could be risky for TikTok, which has succeeded on the back of short memes, to offer 10-minute videos. However, the hope is that the much longer clips might have a positive and significant impact on how people consume content on the app.

It will be interesting to see how this change in TikTok might extend user engagement leading to broader content and advertising options. Do you think this will lead to stronger engagement? TikTok is counting on it!
